Founded in 1983 by Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt, the Center for Loss and Life
Transition is dedicated to "companioning" grieving people as they mourn
transitions and losses that transform their lives. We help both mourners, by walking with
them in their unique life journeys, and both professional caregivers and lay people, by
serving as an educational resource and professional forum.
Our founder and director, Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt has created a model of "companioning" versus
"treating" people in grief and presents numerous workshops each year for hospices, hospitals,
schools, universities, funeral homes, community groups and a variety of other organizations.
He also teaches retreat-oriented learning experiences for bereavement caregivers at the
Center for Loss, located in the beautiful mountain foothills of Fort Collins, Colorado.
Dr. Wolfelt is the author of many books and resources that are helpful to both caregivers
and grieving people. If you are grieving or want to help others in grief, we invite you to
explore our website. Thank you for your support of the mission of the Center for Loss and
Life Transition.
Located in the Rocky Mountain foothills on the western edge of Fort Collins,
Colorado, the Center for Loss serves its mission through a combination of workshops
and publications. |
Workshops
Dr. Wolfelt dedicates more than 80 days a year to teaching workshops
across North America each year. Respected for his educational contributions
and loved for his compassionate, engaging presence, Dr. Wolfelt is a popular
presenter at hospices, universities, funeral homes, churches, schools and
other organizations that want to provide grief education to community members,
area professionals and staff members.
Dr. Wolfelt also teaches 4 day retreat-oriented learning experiences
for bereavement caregivers here at the Center for Loss in Fort Collins.
These popular courses are the culmination of his passion for and years
of experience in grief counseling. Now he focuses on teaching others to
"companion" those in grief.
